Uber Now Sells Digital Gift Cards To United States Residents

Even though Uber is facing a fair bit of opposition all over the world, the company is trying to break ground in new markets. Earlier this week, the company unveiled their gift card service, which can be purchased for friends, family, or anyone else who paid one’s fare in the past. Digital gift cards can be ordered from the Uber website. Physical versions of these cards have been around since September, but the digital counterpart was heavily requested.

Digital Uber Gift Cards Are Now Available

In this day and age of digitization, it only makes sense to offer digital gift cards. For Uber, that decision was made only recently, after the company launched physical gift cards in September of 2016. Users can buy digital cards and give them to friends and family, simply by sending them to one’s email address.

Buying the cards themselves is straightforward, and not different from any other digital gift offering. Uber wants to make this process as simple and straightforward as possible. Ordering these cards can be done through the company website, rather than having to rely on third-party retailers who may not have enough of a supply to accommodate the demand.

With the holiday season almost upon us, Uber hopes to increase their market share through the gift of giving. It is a convenient service, even though the user base always leaves room for growth. What better way to get acquainted with a new service than by receiving a gift card to spend as one desires?

What is rather interesting is how these gift cards can be used for more than just car rides. All services offered by UberEATS are eligible for redeeming the gift card balance as well, which makes them quite ingenious offerings. Ordering food online had become a mainstream trend some time ago, but speeding up the delivery process is always a bonus.

As one would come to expect, the payment methods accepted for these digital Uber gift cards are very common. Both credit cards and PayPal payments are supported, with an option to have the card delivered via email or in print. There are no additional charges for electing digital delivery, which is a nice touch.

For now, the Uber digital gift cards are only available to customers in the United States. It is unclear whether or not this offering will be expanded to other countries in the future. Both existing and new users can redeem these gift cards through the Uber or UberEATS app within mere seconds.
