Top 5 Most Innovative Apps of 2016

There are thousands of millions of smartphones out there. The rise of Smartphones has shifted the way we communicate, work, and entertain ourselves. Here is our selection of best apps from 2016.

In the last years, the market for mobile applications has grown exponentially, with a huge selection of software to make our lives easier. It’s now even possible to say that there as many apps as there are colors in the spectrum. The following ones are worth mentioning:

5. TextPand

The dream application for bloggers, this app was released in 2015, but saw public success this year. This piece of software facilitates the writing of long texts in smartphones by featuring small word combinations to form bigger phrases. “pl” can become “please”, and similarly “ty” can transform into “Thank You”. This app is available for Android.

4. Moovit

Created by a team of Israeli developers, Moovit appeared with the goal of conquering the geolocation app niche and ended up becoming one of the most recommended apps by Google (featured in the Editor’s pick). This app is used daily by 45 million people in 60 countries. Moovit allows the user to get the most optimum route when using a public transportation system. In average, Moovit adds support to a new city every 18 hours. The application even gives recommendations regarding which train to board in order to save time, and which stop is best for one’s destination. The app is available for Android and iOS.

3. Photomath

Math is fun, and this app will entertain those who like to spend time solving equations. Photomath is a smart camera which can quickly recognize a written mathematical equation, scan it, and resolve it. This marvelous tool even allows the user to plot the equation’s result on 2D or even 3D planes. It is available on Android and iOS.

2. PhotoScan

This is another scanner application, this time developed by Google itself. PhotoScan will enable you to scan those old physical pictures your grandmother had saved. The app workflow is pretty simple: use your phone to take four pics of every corner of the frame. It is recommended that you do so in good lighting conditions, but the app is able to remove that pesky flash from the picture’s background. Versions are available for Android and iOS.

1. Pokémon Go

The iconic game cartridges of Pokémon’s first versions of the Game Boy console are a thing of the past (although they still live in the memory of millions of gamers). Fans of the Japanese digital creatures are well aware of the evolution that the video game franchise has suffered throughout the years. This app will let you catch new pokémons as you move around your city, allowing you to capture gyms, evolve your monsters, and compete with others to reach the top. Pokémon Go is available for Android and iOS.
