What is of great interest is how users can share files of any size hosted on their computer through Onionshare, without the recipient having to install the software.

One requirement is how users will need to install the Tor browser if they want to make use of the Onionshare protocol. Executing the Onionshare app will start a locally-run web server, which uses Tor to share the files one wants to make available. As a result, users are not required to store files online to share them. Once the files are downloaded, the web server on the host computer will terminate automatically.
