Several Linux Distros Cater To Deep Web Users

For those people who have ever considered exploring the deep web, there are specific Linux distributions at your disposal. Using Tor itself is far from sufficient to provide optimal privacy these days. VPN usage is an alternative option, but one never knows if the provider logs traffic. So several Linux developers created custom distributions for all one’s deep web needs.

Linux Distros Are More Than Just Code

One thing to keep in mind when trying to browse the darknet is how a browser or anonymity tool is not a sufficient solution. While this is convenient and somewhat secure, a lot of data can be collected in the background. Which operating system is being used, the current timezone, and in some cases, even what type of hardware is being used.

With the specific Linux distributions, most of those problems are taken away. Keeping in mind how these solutions are created by third parties, there is always a security concern to keep in mind. Whonix, while one of the oldest distros well-suited for darknet usage, is also rather simple to use and set up.

Most of these Linux distros will have the Tor Browser included, which is set as the default client. What makes these offerings so appealing is how they use other privacy features as well, including anonymous IRC, and other privacy tools for email and whatnot. Tails, for example, is by far the most popular offering when it comes to darknet Linux distros.

Booting these solutions from a removable storage device adds another layer of privacy for the user. Since they are not limited to using one computer to access the darknet, they can put a bit more effort and access the underground Internet from multiple devices and locations. This may only seem like a small benefit, but it may pay dividends in the long run.

For users who are looking for a more advanced solution, Kali Linux will have you covered. With several hundred tools focusing on penetration testing, it is safe to say this is taking things to whole new level. However, this distro is not designed for the novice user, as they will get overwhelmed by all of the options at their disposal.
