Obama Talks Over Cyber Attacks With Vladimir Putin

After a 90-minute meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he announced that there will be no retaliation for the suspected involvement of Russia in the recent Democratic Party hacks.

It is now being said that Putin is creating a covert operation to destroy Democracy in America by hacking the fast approaching election.

“We’ve had problems with cyber-intrusions from Russia in the past, rom other countries in the past,” Obama said. “Our goal is not to suddenly in the cyber arena duplicate a cycle of escalation that we saw when it comes to other arms races in the past, but rather to start instituting some norms so that everybody’s acting responsibly. What we cannot do is have a situation where countries that have significant cyber-capabilities start engaging in unhealthy competition or conflict through these means.”

Officials for the U.S. said that election systems in Illinois and Arizona have been hacked and that Russia was responsible. This isn’t the first time Russian hackers have been blamed for cybercrimes against America. They are also being blamed for the Cyber-attacks against the Democratic National Committee.

Russia denies that it carried out any type of cyber-attacks against the U.S. Putin called the accusations an attempt to distract the public’s attention.

“At the state level, we certainly weren’t involved in this,” Putin stated. He also stated that the leaked information from the DNC was of direct benefit.

“It doesn’t really matter who hacked this data from Mrs. Clinton’s campaign headquarters. The important thing is the content was given to the public,” Putin said in regards the Hillary Clinton email hack.

Obama said the topic of conversation was cyber-warfare, as it has been for ages with other countries. Obama also said he didn’t want to take part in any kind of cyber arms race.

“We’re going to have enough problems in cyberspace with non-state actors who are engaging in theft and using the internet for all types of illicit activities. We’ve started to get some willingness on the part of countries to adopt these norms, but we’ve got to make sure we’re observing them as well,” Obama said.

“We’re moving into a new era here, where a number of countries have significant capacities, and frankly, we got more capacity than anybody. Both offensively and defensively,” Obama finished by stating.
