Litecoin Will be Integrated Into The Jaxx Wallet Come October 2016

Mobile cryptocurrency wallets are proving to be a thorn in the side of technology giants. Jaxx, a mobile wallet supporting multiple cryptocurrencies, has seen its share of troubles with Apple over some of the supported coins. Despite these challenges, the team has integrated support for Litecoin, which is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies in the world today.

Litecoin is Coming To Jaxx Wallets Near You

It is well worth noting Apple has approved the addition of Litecoin to the Jaxx wallet. Given the technology giant’s recent stance against the likes of Dash and others, one never knows for sure how they will react to these changes. The new wallet will be released in early October, although no specific data was announced just yet.

The integration of Litecoin stems forth from overwhelming community demand. Ever since Litecoin was created, many people held this alternative cryptocurrency in high regard. However, adoption of Litecoin seems to have stagnated, and only very few merchants accept the currency at this time. With the listing on Jaxx, that situation may come to change over time, though.

Jaxx CEO and Founder Anthony Di Iorio told the media:

“We received countless requests from the community to add support for Litecoin, and we knew it was already accepted by Apple on the AppStore, so for us it’s a perfect fit and makes the most sense right now. Litecoin has stood the test of time; it’s very popular at number four, and it boasts better transaction times than Bitcoin.”

Charlie Lee, the creator and developer of Litecoin, reaffirmed how his currency is not competing with Bitcoin over market share. Instead, the coin was designed to complement Bitcoin wherever possible. The world is big enough for people to support multiple cryptocurrencies, and there is no reason to believe Bitcoin, Litecoin, and others can’t peacefully co-exist.

Speaking of the future of Litecoin, several developmental changes are coming later this year. Memory usage will be improved significantly, and signature validation will see a healthy speed increase. Similar to Bitcoin, Litecoin will also support Segregated Witness. Confidential transactions have been rumored as well, albeit it remains unclear if that feature will be ready before the end of the year.
