Rep. Michael McCaul Speaks Out to Confirm That RNC Email Servers Were Hacked

reminesjoseph September 17, 2016

Earlier in the week, CNN posted a video from Rep. Michael McCaul officially stating that the server hosting the RNC email has been hacked. Until this video there was only speculation. This video from McCaul is the first official confirmation, and Russia is taking the blame once again.

In the video McCaul states that:

“It’s important to know, Wolf, that they have not only hacked into the DNC but also to the RNC. So they are not discriminating one party against the other. The Russians are basically, have hacked into both parties at the national level and that gives us all concern about what their motivations are.”

After being questioned by Wolf, Rep. McCaul answered with:

“Yes, they have hacked into the Republican National Committee. So this is, again, they are not picking sides here I don’t think. They are hacking into both political parties.”

Since the release of the video, the RNC has come fourth on Twitter and said the RNC email server was never hacked, and all claims that it has been are false.

It seems lately, that the majority of the hacking cases in the spotlight are accusing Russia. Some speculate that Russia is committing these cybercrimes against the U.S. as a form of retaliation. Others have said it’s to confuse voters in order to disrupt the upcoming elections. Recently, one theory involves Donald Trump of having actually endorsed and compensated Russian State Hackers in order to gain access to information he wouldn’t normally be able to see.

If in fact the RNC email server was hacked, the last possibility seems unlikely, since Trump is running on the Republican side of the road. With the recent hack of the Clinton emails, an uproar broke out over the presidential hopeful not receiving any charges out of the hack. The DNC servers were hacked, and information was leaked publicly. Voting systems across the country are being monitored for any signs of illegal breaches, and even a few have been hacked, and information leaked. DMV’s have also been  targets of cybercrimes lately, with registered voters driving records and private information posted online, as well as being sold for pennies on the dollar among various online black markets on dark net; which we all know is only accessible from the Tor anonymity network.
